What Is Soft Glam?A Simple Guide.
Hi! I’m Lauren, a hair & makeup artist and owner of Lauren Garfitt Bridal Hair & Makeup. I specialise in soft, sophisticated glam. I often find clients mix up soft glam and full glam, so here’s a simple breakdown (with examples!) to help you spot the difference and communicate exactly what you want.
So… what is Soft Glam?
Soft glam encourages glamour, but with a blended, flattering, natural-feel finish. Think elevated beauty… not heavy, harsh, or theatrical.
Soft Glam vs Full Glam
Soft glam is the gentler sister of full glam. Full glam uses multiple layers, sharp contouring, baking, full strip lashes and bold cut creases. Which is perfect for stage, TV and influencer-style content, but often too intense in daylight or up-close moments. Most of my brides want to enhance their natural features while still looking like themselves, and soft glam is ideal for that.
Key Elements of Soft Glam
Skin: Glowing, soft, seamless, no harsh lines.
Eyes: Blended neutrals that enhance, not overpower.
Liner: Smudged kohl instead of a thick black wing.
Brown/hazel eyes: soft black, maroon, plum
Green eyes: warm browns, red-undertone liners
Blue eyes: copper, chocolate, bronze
Finish: Polished but wearable, and flattering for all ages.
When Is Soft Glam Best?
Honestly? Any occasion. It’s timeless, versatile and suits every outfit because of its neutral, monochromatic colour palette.
For weddings especially, soft glam photographs beautifully and looks natural in real life, the perfect balance.
Real-Life Examples - no editing, no filters. JUST good lighting and flattering makeup ;)
Notice how each look still feels soft, but slightly different? Soft glam is flexible. A client might choose a fuller lash, lighter lip, stronger liner, or softer eye, it’s all about tailoring it to them. As a makeup artist, my role is to communicate, adjust and create a version of soft glam that feels authentically you.
I’d be delighted to work with you. For beautifully executed soft glam on your wedding day or special event, you can enquire about bookings via my contact page.
